Sahana Mathiarasan

Undergraduate Student

I am an undergraduate student in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Human Health and minoring in Sociology. I am interested in epidemiology as well as global health. I believe that in order for healthcare to be equal and provide adequate care, social determinants such as race and socioeconomic status must be accounted for as well. I am currently on the pre-med track and hope to gain an MD and hopefully also an MPH in the future. I am currently working on a review article on air pollution, environmental justice, and children’s health. The article focuses on socioeconomic status specifically and how people of lower socioeconomic status are disproportionately affected by air pollution and lack access to adequate health care.
